When you hear the words routine and schedule, what comes to mind? For many people, those are bad words that denote strictness and discipline.
In my world, routine and schedule are blessings. I love to know what is going to happen and when. I try to apply this to all areas of my life. I like knowing that Tuesday is the day that I clean the bathroom. Now, if I don't get to it, that is ok. I will next week....no big deal.
I am applying this concept today to cleaning. I often hear from other moms that they don't know how to schedule their cleaning time. "There isn't enough time!", "I don't want to spend all day cleaning."
Guess what....neither do I! And....hello, is there anyone that does??!!!

So for me, my cleaning schedule and routine work.
This is my daily cleaning schedule: (adapted from flylady)
Morning:
Make bed
Swish bathrooms
Empty dishwasher and reload
Dogs fresh water/check food/feed fish
Take dogs out
Start laundry
Afternoon:
Zone work (15 min. in designated weekly zone-see below)
Lunch
Clean up
Laundry cont.
Daily Chore (see below)
Evening:
Laundry finished
lay out clothes for tomorrow (Addie and mine)
10 min. tidy (quick house pick-up)
***** Side note: I have 3 kids who have chores (will share more on that at a later time)******
Zone work: Each week, a different area of the house is deep cleaned (walls wiped down, windows cleaned, carpets cleaned, etc.)
week 1: Porches/scrapbook area/office area
week 2: Kitchen
week 3: Bedrooms
week 4: Bathrooms/Laundry room
week 5: Living room/Dining room
Daily Chore: One area of the house that gets a quick go over. Usually I spend no more than 10 minutes doing this. It keeps my house presentable and ready for company on short notice.
Monday: Weekend Cleanup (I do an all over house pickup, getting things back on track to start the week)
Tuesday: Bathrooms: Tubs, sweep and mop, and wash towels
Wednesday: Living room/Dining room: vacuum and dust
Thursday: Bedrooms : wash sheets, vacuum and dust
Friday: Kitchen: fridge cleared, counters wiped down, cabinets wiped, sweep and mop
That's it. As you see, I don't schedule cleaning on the weekend. We are usually busy with soccer and other family outings that I don't worry about the house during that time.
I would love to hear how you schedule your cleaning and what your favorite routines are. Please share!
Hugs,
Angie

I do an extremely loose version of flylady also. I do the weekly thing but I have yet to schedule zone cleaning. I kind of just do that as it gets gross unfortunately. Thanks for the reminder to take the next step :)
Flylady saved my life and since I got used to her way, I have since adjusted it to better fit our lifestyle. I have a similar cleaning schedule to yours and don't see how I could get by any other way
I am usually an all or nothing kind of girl, but in the name of getting things done I've learned to do a little cleaning here and there. Like swishing toilets and starting a load of laundry here and there when I have 10 minutes.
