Weight Watchers: Week One

Hello there!  How is everyone doing? Can you believe we are already in the 2nd week of January!?  I swear, as I get older the time goes by faster and faster!

So, today, I thought I would share a little about weight loss.  I am working on trying to lose the baby weight from #4 (oh, who am I kidding, from the first child!).

I used Weight Watchers very successfully in the past.  This was 9 years ago.  We moved and it all went downhill from there.

When I got pregnant with Addie, I was careful about what I ate.  I had to be.  I become a gestational diabetic with each pregnancy.  Unfortunately, with Addie, I had to take insulin.  In the past, I was able to control it with diet.  So, I was very mindful about my eating.  It was very hard to put on weight.  Thankfully, baby was perfect when she was born.  The weight came off really easy too.  I enjoyed that part, especially.  In fact, I lost 10 pounds more than what I weighed before becoming pregnant.

Then, I started my medications again (for high blood pressure and anxiety).  I think these medications make me gain weight.  Then again, it could be those McDonald's Cinnamelts (seriously, have you had these?  I DIE!!!) and all that chocolate that I was eating.

So, here we are starting a new year.  What do I do?
Of course, Resolution #1:  LOSE WEIGHT and GET INTO SHAPE!

So, about a week ago, I took the plunge and signed up for Weight Watchers Online.  The first couple of days, I checked out the site and made sure I knew how to work the program.  Then, last Monday, I began.  As of this morning, I am done 2.8 pounds!  (and it was time for my monthly visit from Aunt Flo.  I know, TMI, but I want to be completely real here!)

So, here is what is working:

1.  I am tracking EVERYTHING I eat.  Even when I know that I am not making the healthiest choices.  I do this so that I know where I stand.  With WW, you are given a beginning Points allowance and an Extra Allowance on top of that ( to use for special events, etc). I have been trying to stay at my beginning range.  More on that in a minute.

2.  Move.  This week, I didn't exercise nearly as much as I would have liked, but I did do a few days worth.  Better than nothing and hopefully I can add to that this week. (My secrets:  I HATE exercise, but if you find something you can bear (for me, walking) AND you have good music (audiobook, podcast, whatever to keep you occupied), it goes faster). I am walking on a treadmill, using an interval type workout.  This keeps it interesting so you don't get bored.  I am thinking I would like to try the 100 Challenge (pushups, situps, and squats) and add yoga for sure!

3.  More water!  I had gotten into the habit of drinking ONLY diet coke. ALL. DAY. LONG.  That has to change.  I would like to get to the point where I am drinking ONLY water.  We'll see.

4.  Set up a goal/reward system.  Of course, make the goals easy and the rewards NON food related!

        5 lbs.:   Eyebrows waxed
     10 lbs. :   10 new songs
     15 lbs  :    Pedicure
     20 lbs  :    New shoes
25 lbs  :  New outfit (of course, I will probably need lots of new clothes by this time!)
     30 lbs  :  New Hairstyle

So, there ya go!  2.8 Pounds GONE and working on making it more!  Join me?  Let me know your favorite weight loss tips, workout songs, 'diet foods', etc.  Share!

Good for you! I am about to start WW too! My metabolism is awful! I seriously eat some french fries and see it on the scale! I've been hitting the gym most mornings the last two weeks so hopefully between that and WW I can drop some pounds too!

PS. I really like the reward system you have going! Keep us updated!

I haven't had pop in 2 weeks! Yay! me!! I heard a good secret to eating healthy, is smaller plates to trick the brain you are eating a lot. and many colors. the more colorful your food, the more nutrients and vitamins.
